Amino: Reddit meets Tumblr meets Kik

Introduction

Amino is an application centered around user-created communities. Although loosely moderated by a core team of developers who regularly prune said communities to remove inactive leaders or those which break the application’s guidelines, users have considerable freedom to decide the form and function of their communities. This article’s written as a combination of thoughts and/or observations about this intriguing application – its current state and some challenges it faces.

Online Music Collaborations: A Brief Guide

Introduction

This was one of the topics which I wanted to write about last time, since it was a bit difficult starting out and learning how to do recordings. That said, one can easily Google how to record using Audacity , so this guide focuses on how a collab group could function so that a few tracks can be easily compiled for the purposes of producing some awesome band covers.

Vanilla Dream Shuppatsu!

One team, one dream!

Introduction

Shortly after writing the essay on Singapore’s odottemita subculture and its corresponding addendum, Vanilla Dream, a Singapore dance and vocal group, started their first radio show titled ‘Vanilla Dream Scoops!’. This increased professionalization seemed a pertinent example of one of the points raised within the essay, and I reached out to Vanilla Dream seeking their permission to write an article about them.

They responded positively and were interested to meet up for an interview, which was concluded recently. I’d like to thank them for taking time out of their day to prepare and meet up for the interview; the transcript of which is shown below. Without their prompt response, participation, patience and considerable assistance, this article would (quite definitely) have not been written.

Lasers, Gravwells and Spacetime: Roe’s Primer to Kritika SEA’s Dimension Controller

Introduction

Given the lack of discussion boards set up by Playpark as of this writing, it is difficult for the same community that once flourished in games like MapleSEA and other MMOs to develop if they lack somewhere to congregate. Although a subreddit does exist, it is better suited for Q&A or media sharing compared to the development of an actual community around the game.

In this figurative Black desert, it is also difficult for one to write a class guide/primer and have it stickied/pinned to the top of a discussion page. Nevertheless, as the community of the game seems to be growing rapidly, it seems appropriate to contribute one of the first English guides for a class that I enjoy playing: the Dimension Controller. I hope that this guide will be helpful to new and intermediate players alike, giving them helpful tips for a rarely played class.

On Drumming

A new article has been written here, it’s more of a self-intro than anything else. For some reason, featured pictures don’t appear so it’s something that I’ll have to work on.

To differentiate between articles and essays, articles will be more…informal, and essays will have proper citation or deal with things which are slightly deeper. But the separation/distinction won’t be done now, probably in the future.

Yay! Also, time to chiong work~
