A fast week.

SoTW: Start Again – Lucas King / Lead Me To Calvary – Jennie E. Hussey

How I’ve been…

  1. Physically:
    1. Sleep has been above average for the most part, which was good. Catching back on sleep helped me to avoid falling sick after a hectic past cuouple of weeks.
    2. Exercise was continued.
  2. Mentally:
    1. Generally up and down throughout the week with a dip in the middle and spike towards the end.
    2. For the most part, though, been a bit more productive than the previous week.
  3. Emotionally:
    1. Started out alright, then went down, down down. Crashed on rock bottom on Thursday.
    2. It’s been a slow journey back up, but by God’s grace that’s how far I’ve come.
  4. Socially:
    1. Not much aside from a meetup with a couple of my old CGLs on Monday. Was not too bad.
    2. By and large a difficult week to get through on this aspect.
  5. Spiritually:
    1. It’s been a challenging week. Started out meh and dipped for the most part.
    2. Had one of those life-changing events on Thursday. Well, perhaps not that big, but larger than what happened with Guinevere and that was pretty huge (for those that know).
    3. Spent a lot of time reflecting after, which explains the emotional aspect. But at the same time, God’s been encouraging me slowly that I’m walking with Him, so that’s nice.
    4. [What God’s taught me this week]: Working is as important as praying:
      1. On one occasion a certain brother came to Mount Sinai to visit Abba Sylvanus, and he saw the brethren working with their hands to supply their wants, and he said unto Abba Sylvanus, with boasting, “Ye toil for the food which perisheth; Mary chose a good portion for herself.” Then Abba Sylvanus said unto Zechariah, his disciple, “Give him a book and take him to a cell wherein there is nothing.” And when the time of the ninth hour had come, the brother looked this way and that way to see if they were going to send for him to come and eat, but no man came to seek him. Then he rose up and came to the old man and said unto him, “Father, have not he brethren eaten to-day?” and he said unto him, “Yea.” And the brother said unto him, “Why have ye not called me?” The old man said unto him, “Thou art a spiritual man and hast no need of the meat which is for the body, but we are corporeal beings, and we require to eat, and it is for this reason that we work. Thou hast chosen the [good] part; read all day, and do not seek after the food of the body.” Now when that brother heard [this] he expressed his contrition, and said, “Father, forgive me”; and the old man said, “Even Mary had need of Martha, for through the labour of Martha Mary triumphed.”
    5. That, and that God accepts our repentance even if we struggle to make much headway at first:
      1. A certain brother fell into temptation, and through tribulation relinquished the garb of monkhood; and he wished to begin to renew his ascetic life, but he saw the great difficulty of the matter, and he drew back, and said, “When shall I ever find myself in the same condition as I was formerly?” And through fear he did not begin his work, and he went and made the matter known to an old man, and the old man said, “The matter is thus: There was a certain man who possessed an estate, and he held it to be of no account and did not cultivate it, and it became full of tangled undergrowth and thorns. Now one day he remembered it, and he sent his son, and said unto him, ‘Go, clean the estate.’ And when he had gone, and seen the abundance of the undergrowth he was afraid, and said to himself, ‘When shall I be able to clean away all this undergrowth?’ And he threw himself upon a bed, and lay down, and went to sleep, and thus he did everyday. Then his father went forth and found he was asleep, and that he had done nothing; and he said unto him ‘How is it, my son, that no work whatsoever hath been done by thee?’ And he said to his father, ‘When I came to work and saw the abundance of the undergrowth, I was afraid and said, When shall I be able to clean all this away?’ And his father said unto him, ‘My son, work according to the measure of thy sleep each day, and it shall be sufficient for thee’; and when he heard [this] the young man plucked up courage, and did thus, and in a short time he cleansed the estate. Thus also thou shalt not be afraid, but begin the work of thy rules, and God, by His Grace, will establish thee [among those in] the first rank.” Now when the brother had done thus he was helped.
  6. Character improvements:
    1. Felt like I took ten steps back in order to take one step forward.
  7. Hobbies:
    1. Bit of time on cello, viola and e-git but that’s about it.
  8. Random thoughts:
    1. “Mm…”
    2. “…”
    3. “….”
    4. “…………..”
    5. “…”
    6. “..”
    7. “Busy and tired…”
  9. Week ahead:
    1. ICT starting tmr, hopefully nothing goes wrong. Finished my CG work, did a bit of acads but will try to get it done during free time of reservist.
  10. Prayer for upcoming week:
    1. Smoothness for the whole ICT.
    2. Mindfulness of God throughout the week.
    3. Peace guarding one’s heart.
